Build a pot/bowl/vase using hand rolled coils

Students use the slab hand building method with a plate mold to make a clay plate. Students use paint to design their plates with a dragon inspired by Chinese dragons and blue and white ware.

Students will draw action human figures selected from sports magazines. They will break down the complex organic shape of each item into simpler geometric shapes.

Students will draw from a still life and apply drawing and shading techniques they have learned to render a final drawing that illustrates their understanding of drawing concepts and elements and principles of design, effective use of media, and skilled craftsmanship to create a cohesive composition.

Students create their own unique slice of cake boxes slab They will utilize and put to practice the techniques from previous lessons:, slab, score, slip and relief. The details should be creative and ideas we see in real-life cake slices (icing, icing piping, layers,etc.)

This rubric will be used to evaluate your GLAZED piece of pottery.

Color Wheel -After reading over the color wheel section together and completing the color wheel exercises using the software, students will create a color wheel in their sketchbooks, using their colored pencils. -Then students will write next to the wheel a list of the primary colors and secondary colors, and will also write down what each colors compliment is (complimentary colors). Students will also list what colors can be used to create gray.

Students and teacher will evaluate their pottery piece based on their experience on the wheel and the outcome of their completed pot. Circle how your feel you did and give a brief explanation in the comments box and or on the back.

A rubric that properly evaluates the artistic process of using colored pencils as an artistic medium. It measures the various phases and approaches that are necessary in the assessment of a project or a work of art.
